Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar has announced that he won’t be contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha election as two members of his family are contesting in the national elections.

Former Agriculture Minister said in a statement, “I thought that already two members of my family are contesting polls this time and hence I felt this is right time to take decision to not contest since I already have contested 14 times in the past.”

Yesterday evening, the Election Commission of India announced the poll dates and the voting will begin from April 11 in seven phases and the counting would happen on May 23.
