J&K Firing: RSS' Chandrakant Sharma, who was attacked by terrorists, succumbs to injuries

In a major incident in Jammu and Kashmir, the RSS leader Chandrakant Sharma, who was a Medical Assistant at the district hospital in Kishtwar has succumbed to his injuries.

Sharma, who was earlier attacked by the terrorists in the hospital itself was undergoing treatment and his PSO was also shot dead by the terrorists on the spot. Chandrakant was a member of the Rashtraiya Swayam Sevak Sangh.


News agency ANI tweeted, "J&K: BJP Spokesperson Sunil Sethi says Chandrakant Sharma who was attacked in Kishtwar today has died. Medical Assistant Chandrakant Sharma working at Kishtwar district hospital was injured in an attack by terrorists, his PSO was shot dead. Sharma was also associated with the RSS."

As per eyewitness account, a man had entered the hospital carrying a gun and immediately shot at the RSS leader Chandrakant Sharma and his Personal Security Officer (PSO), who was a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Post this incident, curfew has been imposed in several parts of Kishtwar and the internet services have been temporarily discontinued in order to take preventive measures.

Earlier, an incident which was similar to this had taken place in Kishtwar, when the State Secretary of the BJP, Anil Parihar and his brother Ajit Parihar were shot dead by the terrorists. Even then, curfew was imposed in Kishtwar and an ambiance of fear had engulfed the district.

Even before this incident, Srinagar had been in news for the killing of two National Conference workers and a People’s Democratic Party leader.
