India-China border face-off: China suffers 43 casualties including dead, serious injuries; 20 Indian Army jawans martyred

Indian intercepts disclose that Chinese side had suffered 43 casualties which includes dead and grievously wounded in face-off in the Galwan valley, according to news agency ANI.

At the minimum, 20 Indian Army personnel lost their lives in vicious face-off in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley, ANI quoted government sources as saying.


The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that both sides suffered causalities as Beijing made an effort to unilaterally change the existing state of affairs and "departed from the consensus to respect the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Galwan Valley".

Earlier today, the Army stated that India lost an officer and two jawans during the fierce face-off, meanwhile, there were casualties on the chinese said also. The degree of casualties on the chinese side is not exactly clear.

The officer killed in the face-off is Colonel Santosh Babu, Commanding Officer of the 16 Bihar regiment, meanwhile the two jawans were K Palani and Ojha, sources added.
