ABVP's Dayal Singh College unit told a leading daily,"We demand his suspension and we request the student community to boycott his classes. Mandal has provoked sentiments during a festival time of Hindu – Navratri."

Chinmoy Biswal, the additional deputy commissioner of police said in a statement to a leading daily,“The complaint was examined and Mandal was booked under section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, etc.) and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting religious beliefs).
