Delhi Cabinet nod for APJ Abdul Kalam memorial in Dilli Haat

The Delhi Cabinet, on 4 May, approved the setting up of a memorial for late former president APJ Abdul Kalam at Dilli Haat.

The memorial will have the notes, books, clothes and other personal belongings of the former president. Hindustan Times had earlier reported that it was set to be opened to the public in July.

According to the original plan, the former president's residence was set to be converted into a memorial. The plan was later changed and his bungalow was allotted to Union Tourism and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma - causing the Delhi government to look for an alternative for the 'knowledge centre' in memory of the late president.
