Union minister Mahesh Sharma on 19 August came forward to state his stance on the recent incident where his security personnel thrashed guards of a housing society in Ghaziabad.
A video of his security personnel thrashing a housing society's security guards on 18 August had gone viral on social media. This was followed by an outpouring of outrage on social media platforms forcing the minister to comment on the incident. He also apologised to the society's guards.
"When I came to know about the incident, without finding out who is guilty I apologised to society guard. I have also suspended my security guard and have asked the Police to probe the incident," Sharma was quoted as saying by India Today.
The incident took place at the Ashiana Green Apartments in Ghaziabad, where Sharma had stopped by to visit his sister on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
In the video, a security officer is seen repeatedly slapping a guard.
When the security guard took time to open the gates, a member of Sharma's security personnel lost his temper and slapped the guard.
