#BiharOpinionPolls: What do the predictions say so far?

The battle for Bihar is on and all the major players are sweating it hard to win the trust of the voters. The coming days are crucial and could change the tide in favour of any political alliance. Opinion polls have tried to capture the mood of the voters and they seem to suggest that no one has emerged a clear winner.

But that was when the campaigning had not really taken off. Now, NDA seems to be gaining ground which could be a big concern for the grand alliance of JD(U), RJD and Congress. But the mood of the voters appears to be volatile and there is no clear winner right now. Yet, it would be interesting to look at the opinion polls that surely give us an overview of the trends so far.

1.India TV- C Voter

The BJP-led NDA which also includes Lok Janshakti Party, Rashtriya Lok Samata Party and Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) is projected to win 119 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, says the India TV-C Voter pre-poll survey which was released on 9 October.

According to the survey, the grand alliance is projected to win 116 seats. Others like Samajawadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Nationalist Congress Party, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) etc. may get eight seats.

2.CNN-IBN-Axis My India opinion poll

According to the survey conducted by CNN IBN- Axis My India, which released on 8 October, the grand alliance is projected to get 129-145 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly. The halfway mark is 122 seats. The NDA will bag just 87-103 seats. The others may win just 8-14 seats, says the projection.

3.Times Now and C Voter

According to a poll conducted by Times Now and C Voter, which released on 24 September, the BJP-led NDA is projected to win 117 seats, while the grand alliance headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar may win 112 seats.

The poll gives the BJP-led alliance 40 per cent of the votes and the RJD-JD(U)-Congress alliance 43 per cent of votes.

4.ABP-Neilsen opinion poll

According to the opinion poll released by AC Neilsen and ABP News on 15 September, the BJP-led combine is likely to conquer 118 in the tally while the Nitish Kumar-led association might be declaring its win over 122 seats.

5.Opinion poll by Swarajya

An opinion poll released by Swarajya magazine on 7 September, predicts that the Mahagathbandhan (RJD-JD(U)-Congress alliance) might be claiming 115 seats in Bihar out of the 243 seats whereas the BJP led alliance might win 110 seats.

The division of percentage of votes says that grand alliance will get 42 per cent of the votes, while the BJP-led alliance will get 39 per cent of votes.

The party-wise distribution of the percentage of the votes - BJP- 27 per cent, JD(U) - 17 per cent, RJD - 19 per cent and INC - 6 per cent.
