As Congress settles the dust for the race of chief minister’s in the Hindi heartland, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi have reached Chennai to attend the DMK event where the Opposition is marching to show unity.

The occasion is about the late M. Karunanidhi’s unveiling of statue who was the patriarch of the Dravida Munnetra Kazaghamand died after a prolonged illness in August this year.

The host, DMK’s working president MK Stalin will share the stage with the two leaders of the Congress and Sonia Gandhi is the chief guest of the event.

The news agency ANI tweeted informing, “Chennai: Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Rajinikanth, Shatrughan Sinha, MK Stalin at Anna Arivalayam, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (DMK) headquarters, ahead of the unveiling of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's statue.”

Every such step or function, where the Opposition leaders will be seen together is directly a message of unity amongst the leaders and for Stalin, it will be a show of strength of the non-BJP front in the South.

BJP which secured 104 seats in the Karnataka Assembly election and holds 17 parliamentary seats out of 28 in the state, is looking for the alliance partners from the south. After, N Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP made an exit from the NDA, the BJP seems to be searching for a new partner.

Although, after a thumping win in the Bi-polar contest in MP, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, the Congress will become a magnet for the Opposition parties to align pre or post elections.
