Uttar Pradesh: Army jawan held for allegedly raping blind Dalit girl in Mathura

An Army jawan was sent to judicial custody for allegedly raping a blind Dalit girl in Ram Ka Nagla village in Mathura district, Uttar Pradesh.

According to media reports, a case was registered against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and SC/ST act.

The accused was identified as Ajeet Singh, who was posted as jawan with the Jat Regiment in Meerut. He was in his village on leave when the incident occurred.

According to the police, Singh went to the victim's house, allegedly drunk, and took her to the terrace, where he raped her. When the victim raised an alarm, the accused fled.

The police was considering it a case of eve teasing but the victim alleged she was raped. Thereafter, the police registered a rape case.
