As political parties are gearing up for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly election, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today clarified that the party will enter into alliances only with those who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as part of National Democratic Alliance.

The party has indirectly ruled put any possible understanding with Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).

"BJP would enter into alliance only with the parties that jointly contested last Lok Sabha election with NDA," BJP state in-charge Om Mathur said.

Mathur was in Mathura to offer prayers to 'Behari Ji Maharaj'. Asked if the party plans to project any chief ministerial candidate in the Assembly polls, he said, "The party would not project anyone, instead the face of BJP would be projected."

He termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent rally in Ballia as historic. "It has given the message that after former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, Modi is another Prime Minister who talks and works for the interest of farmers," he claimed.
