The Uttar Pradesh police, on 3 October, arrested the two main accused in Dadri lynching case, Vishal and Shivam, from the Noida bus depot when they were trying to flee.

As per media reports, Vishal is the son of local BJP leader Sanjay Rana who is allegedly a close aide of Union Minister Mahesh Sharma. The FIR filed by Akhlaq's family also contains Rana's name.

A report in TOI states that Vishal was working in an advertising firm in Okhla and Shivam was a student. Also, as per an Indian Express report, another accused who has been detained by the police is an Uttar Pradesh Home Guard constable who was posted at the Jarcha police station.

Vishal and Shivam are among the four main accused of playing a central role in inciting the violence against Akhlaq's family. The other two, Saurabh and Rupinder, are still absconding.

The Indian Air Force chief Arup Raha also termed the entire incident as unfortunate and mentioned that they were planning to shift Corporal Mohammad Danish's family to the Air Force base. Danish is the 22-year-old son of Akhlaq and he was also brutally beaten up by the mob.

Meanwhile, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi visited Bisara village on 3 October, and met the aggrieved family.
