In a shocking incident, two minors reportedly set themselves ablaze in Nainana Jat, Agra district.

The deceased - identified as students of Class 10 and 9 - locked themselves in a room on 14 May before setting themselves on fire, Pradesh18 reported.

According to the report, the female victim - the Class 9 student - was forced to marry a man from Kuberpur on 9 May.

She reportedly locked herself in a room in the house of the male victim - the Class 10 student, and her schoolmate - after she returned from Kuberpur.

The male victim's younger brother raised alarm after he saw smoke and flames early on 14 May. His family reportedly broke into the room to find the charred bodies of the minors.

Families of both the victims have refused to lodge any complaints and the bodies were sent for post-mortem. The police are probing the matter.

According to the police, the students may have taken the drastic step because their parents -who hail from different communities - objected to their relationship.
