The ruling Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh today announced a financial aid of Rs 20 lakh to the kin of each of the five CRPF jawans from the state who lost their lives in Pampose while fighting terrorists.
The martyrs, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, have been identified as Sanjay Kumar, Kailash Yadav, Veer Singh, Rajesh Kumar, and Satish Chandra.
On 25 June, eight CRPF personnel were killed in Pampore and at least 20 others were injured when militants attacked their convoy. According to a Pradesh18 report, the CRPF convoy comprising six vehicles was attacked by militants near Frisal village in Pampore area. Two militants were also killed in the gun battle.
The Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) claimed the responsibility for the attack and said that the attack was carried by its two-member fidayeen squad. The LeT also warned about similar attacks in future.
