2017 UP assembly polls: Prashant Kishor wants Priyanka Gandhi to campaign for Congress

Poll strategist Prashant Kishor has asked the senior Congress leaders to rope in Priyanka Gandhi to campaign for the party in the upcoming 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

"Prashant wants Priyanka to lead the campaign from front, and the party will take a decision on it soon," Ritesh Yadav, President Kanpur Lok Sabha Youth Congress, told Catch.

Prashant Kishor is likely to campaign in Lucknow for four days to chalk out the strategy for the party during the Assembly polls. He will interact with over 800 block party presidents as part of the poll preparations - where he will focus on caste combinations and other factors governing each seat.

"Prashant has already expressed that his choice for chief minister candidate is Priyanka Gandhi. However, it's still unclear whether she is ready for it or not," a senior Congress leader said.

Priyanka has always campaigned for the party in Rae Bareli and Amethi, seats represented by her mother Sonia Gandhi and brother Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha.

But Kishor wants Priyanka to campaign for the party across the state. The poll strategist was the man behind Nitish Kumar's strategic win in the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections. He is also credited with being the brains behind the BJP's success in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
