17 inmates booked after two groups clash in Muzaffarnagar jail

17 inmates were today booked in connection with a clash between two rival groups over old enmity in Muzaffarnagar jail, Uttar Pradesh, which left ten of them injured.

According to the police, two group of inmates clashed with bricks and rods in the jail in which 10 sustained injuries.

On the basis of a complaint filed by the jailer Subhash Chand, police have registered a case against 17 inmates.

The district authorities have recovered a mobile phone and several other objects including iron rods and sickles from the jail premises, he said.

District Magistrate DK Singh has also recommended that 12 inmates be shifted to another jail to maintain peace.
