The sexual assault happened after the victim and her brother came back home from school. Later, the victim's mother left her with the accused to do homework and left the room to complete household chores.

It was during this period that the victim's brother, who studies in eight standared, sexually assaulted her. As the woman came back to the room, the girl asked her mother to take her to the toilet. It was then the woman saw blood coming out of the victim's private parts and came to know of the rape.

The woman then slapped her son after she came to know what he had done. She later hatched a story in order to protect her son. The incident happened around 4 pm, said police.

After the woman's complaint, the police questioned the school principal and other teachers, said Assistant commissioner of police (ACP, North) Gurbinder Singh.
