Noida: 18-year-old TikTok user commits suicide over not getting enough ‘likes’ on videos

A bizarre case was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Noida where an 18-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan. As per police, the boy was depressed from the past few days over not getting enough likes on his TikTok videos.

The incident took place in Noida’s Sector 39 where the boy lived with his family. On receiving the information the police immediately swung into action. They broke open the door to find the youngster hanging from the ceiling fan. They brought the body down and have sent it for post mortem.


During the enquiry, police found out that the youth was keeping upset due to his TikTok videos as they were not garnering enough likes and with every passing of day he was slipping into depression. Even the locals said that the boy was in depression.

Police didn’t found any suicide note in his room, however, the boy has shared his distress from people around him. As per reports, Prima facia, the police felt that the boy ended his life due to the same reason, however, they are still investigating the case from different angles. The investigation is underway.

This is the second case in Uttar Pradesh where a youngster committed suicide, in another incident, a class 10th student committed suicide in Agra due to family dispute. In her suicide note, she accused her alcohol addict father of domestic violence with her mother and other two siblings. She ended her life as she had lost all hope due to the family dispute that had smouldered on for years.
