IRCTC Train Ticket Reservation: List of trains that will run from Tuesday; check fare details

In a bid to give some relaxation amid lockdown, Indian Railways will be going to start its passenger trains nearly after two months of lockdown. The train services will be resumed from Tuesday while train ticket booking will begin today.

Indian Railways has decided to resume the limited operation for the stranded passengers due to the coronavirus lockdown.


The Ministry of Railways on Sunday said: “Indian Railways plans to gradually restart passenger train operations from 12th May 2020, initially with 15 pairs of trains These trains will be run as special trains from New Delhi Station connecting 15 important cities of the country.”


“Indian Railways has decided for the gradual resumption of passenger train services but existing Shramik special trains will continue to run as per current system on the request of the concerned state governments,” the ministry said on Sunday.

However, passengers will need to wear a face mask while travelling on the train. Also, the screening will be done at the railway stations before passengers allowed to board the train.

Passenger whosoever finds with COVID-19 symptom will not be allowed to travel on the train.

“Indian Railways shall start more special services on new routes, based on the available coaches after reserving 20,000 coaches for COVID-19 care centres and an adequate number of coaches being reserved to enable operation of up to 300 trains every day as "Shramik Special" for stranded migrants,” the ministry said in a statement.

These trains will be run as special trains from New Delhi Station connecting Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi

 

 

Ticket Booking timing:

IRCTC will open its reservation window from 4 pm on May 11. Passengers should keep in mind that no booking counters at railways stations will be opened. Therefore, tickets can be booked only through the official website of IRCTC.

Ticket fare details

During the lockdown, the fare for special running trains will be equivalent to the Rajdhani Express train. All the coaches will be AC and there will be limited stoppage only.

How many passengers allowed?

As per railways’ official data, as many as 52 passengers will be allowed in AC three-tier, while in 2 AC, 48 passengers will be allowed. All these decisions have been taken in a view of social distancing due to the novel coronavirus, Railway Ministry's Executive Director, Media, Rajesh Dutt Bajpai, said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the country is observing the nationwide lockdown from March 25 and it will continue till May 17.

Indian Railways started its Shramik Special trains, in a bid to mitigate the hardship of migrant workers, students, and other people who were stranded in several parts of the country due to the imposition of lockdown.
