Jharkhand swearing-in ceremony: Hemant Soren takes oath as Chief Minister

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) working president Hemant Soren took oath as the 11th Chief Minister of Jharkhand here today at Morabadi Ground at 2.20 pm.

Governor Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to Soren while galaxy of leaders from across the political spectrum will grace the occasion.


The event has been termed the event as 'Sankalp diwas' of an era of new Jharkhand.

 Several senior leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Bhagel, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, SP leader Akhilesh Yadav, RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav and Congress leader RPN Singh. 

JMM fought the 2019 Assembly elections in alliance with Congress party and Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) and got a comfortable majority with forty-seven seats in the 81-member house.

JMM won 30 seats, while Congress and RJD secured 16 and one seat respectively in the recently concluded Assembly polls.
