"This ain't Westeros or the free cities

It's the fabulous IIT KGP,

Believe me it's worth a while,

Watch the campus GoT style"

A Game of Thrones-inspired video by and of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur has gone viral.

The video, posted on Youtube by IIT Kharagpur student Prateek Srivastava, has garnered over 17,000 views in under a week.

The video begins with a quote by former Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who laid the foundation stone of IIT Kharagpur and addressed the first convocation of the institute in 1956. The quote reads:

"Here in the place of that Hijli Detention Camp stands the fine monument of India, representing India's urges, India's future in the making. This picture seems to me symbolical of the changes that are coming to India." Hijli Detention Camp, now known as the Shaheed Bhavan - IIT Kharagpur, was a detention camp during British rule. The camp is known as the birthplace of IIT Kharagpur.

The video focuses on the sprawling IIT Kharagpur campus, with each complex and building emerging from the ground in the three-dimensional map format that was popularised by the opening credits sequence of HBO's television television adaption of George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novel series.

IIT Kharagpur director Partha Pratim Chakrabarti also shared the video on his Facebook page on July 18.

Don't you wish you'd thought of it sooner? Here's the Game of Thrones opening credit sequence. Because we know you miss it too.
