CAT 2016 results: Know topper profile of 20 engineers with 100 percentile

CAT 2016 exam results were declared on 9 January, 2017. Twenty candidates emerged a the toppers, with 100 percentile score. Despite Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) drive to gender and push academic diversity, all the 20 toppers are engineers and men. "However, in the sectionals, many non-engineers and female candidates have scored 100 percentile," Professor Rajendra K Bandi, Convener, CAT 2016, told Catch.

Slowly, reports of candidates with 100 percentile are trickling in. So far, we've found seven candidates scoring the perfect 100. The list of toppers will be updated when details arrive:

1. Avidipto Chakraborty

Chakraborty's scorecard reads:

VARC: 96.27 (scaled score) / 100 percentile

DILR: 68.16 (scaled score) / 99.96 percentile

QA: 77.25 (scaled score) / 99.98 percentile

Total: 241.68 (overall scaled score) / 100 overall percentile

Chakraborty is a final year student of BITS-Pilani. This is his first CAT attempt. He has also appeared for GMAT and IIFT exams.

2. Yash Chaudhari

Chaudhari's scorecard read:

VARC: 99.9

DILR: 99.86

QA: 99.96

Overall : 100 percentile

Kolhapur-based Chaudhari is a final year BTech student at College of Engineering, Pune. This is his first CAT attempt.

3. Akshay Mehndiratta

Mehndiratta's scorecard reads:

VARC: 82.98 (scaled score) / 99.80 percentile

DILR: 83.18 (scaled score) / 100 percentile

QA: 62.82 (scaled score) / 99.74 percentile

Total: 228.98 (overall scaled score) / 100 overall percentile

He passed out from IIT Delhi in 2016 with a specialisation in Chemical engineering. Currently working with EXL Analytics, this is Mehndiratta second CAT attempt. His first attempt was in 2016 when he scored 99.34 percentile. He pursued coaching at Career Launcher.

4. Rahul Sharma

A faculty member at Career Launcher, Rahul Sharma is already a management graduate from IIM Ahmedabad in 2011. He quit his cushy banking profile with YES Bank to pursue his love of teaching aptitude.

VARC: 87.46 (scaled score) / 99.94 percentile

DILR: 70.36 (scaled score) / 99.98 percentile

QA: 73.59 (scaled score) / 99.96 percentile

Total: 231.41 (overall scaled score) / 100 overall percentile

His tips to students: "Focus on content, syllabus and revision. Hone your test taking strategy and keep taking mock tests."

5. The serial CAT Topper

A faculty with a leading coaching centre, this is the seventh year in a row the person has scored a perfect 100 percentile. But as always, he chooses to stay out of the limelight.

6. Nilanjan Dutta

Dutta's scorecard reads:

VARC: 69.56 (scaled score) / 97.91 percentile

DILR: 84.46 (scaled score) / 100 percentile

QA: 68.70 (scaled score) / 99.90 percentile

Total: 222.72 (overall scaled score) / 100 overall percentile

Hailing from West Bengal, Dutta has no plans of pursuing a MBA, since he's already been on that route. A former student of Xavier School of Management, XLRI, Jamshedhpur, he's currently working as a Business Consultant with Cognizant.

7. Mukesh Goyal

This 100 percentiler is based out of Chandigarh and a passout of PEC Chandigarh. Currently working in Gurugram, this is his second CAT attempt.
