The demolition drive in Shakur Basti slum area on 12 December night in Delhi has caused a massive uproar in the political arena.

With the AAP government blaming the BJP government in center and Rahul Gandhi questioning the AAP, the incident also became a central point in today's Parliament discussion.

The AAP and JD(U), on 14 December, presented an adjournment motion in Rajya Sabha over the issue. Members of the AAP and Trinamool Congress also protested against the BJP outside Parliament.

Meanwhile, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi visited the slum and interacted with the residents.

"Why is AAP protesting when it is power in Delhi? I will be visiting Shakur Basti," Gandhi told media personnel before his visit.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to reply to Gandhi:

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu gave a statement regarding the issue in the Parliament. He claimed that the six-month-old child, who is believed to have died during the demolition, had died before the drive.

Around 500 shanties were razed by the railway police on the night of 12 December night. The slum dwellers have been rendered homeless in the winter chill.
