Diesel taxi ban: SC grants 2 days for proposal to phase out diesel cabs

Speed News Desk | Updated on: 23 May 2016, 16:48 IST

The Supreme Court on 3 May granted two-days time to the Delhi government to submit a detailed proposal on the phasing out of diesel cabs. This comes after the Arvind Kejriwal-led government moved the Supreme Court against the ban on diesel cabs.

The Delhi government reportedly said that the Supreme Court order had caused law and order problems in the city and requested the Supreme Court to remove diesel cabs from NCR in a phased manner.

Three days after the Supreme Court ruled that diesel cabs will be in from the National Capital, cab drivers continued to block roads in protest.

The SC order comes a day after Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay hit out at the Delhi government for not appealing against the ban on diesel taxis.
