Why Holika Dahan celebrates?

It is believed that Prahlad, one of the devotees of Lord Vishnu, was saved by the Lord from his father Hiranyakashyapu. As per the belief, Prahalad’s father didn’t like his son to worship Lord Vishnu. Hence, he decided to kill his son with the help of sister Holika.

The young boy prays to the lord, who annihilates the powers of his aunt Holika, in his magnanimous Narasimha avatar. To save bhakt Prahlad, Lord Vishnu comes himself to rescue him from demons and thus Holika Dahan is celebrated by burning the mannequin of Holika.
