Virat Kohli becomes first person from India to have 50 million followers on Instagram

Indian skipper Virat Kohli who is regarded as the best batsman of his generation has gone on to become the first person from India to have 50 million Instagram followers. The Indian run machine has thus far 930 posts on the website and is following 480 people.

The Indian skipper is also India’s most valuable celebrity. In accordance with a study by global advisory firm, Duff and Phelps, the 31-year-old topped the brand valuation list for the third back to back year as his value soared by 39 % to $237.5 million in 2019.


Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra Jonas is the second most followed Indian on Instagram with 49.9 million followers. Deepika Padukone sits third on the list with 44.1 users. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is followed by above 34.5 million users on Instagram.

All-inclusive, Portuguese and Juventus footballer Christiano Ronaldo has the maximum followers on Instagram. The footballer is followed by more than 200 million users.

Currently, Virat Kohli is leading the Indian cricket team in New Zealand where the two heavyweights after competing in five T20Is and three ODIs will now come face to face in the two-match Test series, starting Friday.
