An excellent century from star batswoman Harmanpreet Kaur helped India defeat Australia by 36 runs in the second semifinal of the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup match on 20 July.
After winning the toss, Indian Skipper chose to bat first in Derby, which is considered as India's virtual home ground as the women in blue have not lost any match played on this ground.
Harmandeep Kaur scored an extraordinary 171* runs off 115 balls as India scored a total sum of 281 runs in 42 overs. However, while chasing the daunting score of 282 runs just in 42 overs Australia was bowled out for 245 in the 40th over.
Meanwhile, IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla made a blunder while congratulating the Indian Girls for their exceptional knockout against Australia. He took it to twitter and wrote, “Best Wishes to @BCCIWomen cricket team for making it to champions trophy final. By beating Australia. Great knock by @IamHarmanpreet”.
However, later he corrected his mistake and deleted the tweet and posted a new one, “Congrats @BCCIWomen cricket team for the comprehensive victory against Australia #WomensWorldCup2017 . Well played @ImHarmanpreet”
