Pakistan opener wants to meet 'hero' Sachin Tendulkar for advice before World Cup

Pakistan opener Abid Ali who scored an amazing century on his international debut against Australia this year wants to meet his idol, the great Sachin Tendulkar and seek batting advice from him. The 31-year old was recently selected for Pakistan’s World Cup squad and wishes to make a name for himself.

I want to meet Sachin and seek some mental and technical advice and I am sure he won’t turn me down. I am sure if I ask something about cricket he will give a positive reply.


Ali compared Sachin with Pakistani legends Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Yousuf. He said, ‘I have followed Sachin’s technique from day one of my career and I feel he was a great player just like our Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Yousuf.

Abid’s 112 runs on debut is the highest score by a batsman for Pakistan on debut in an ODI. He became the fifteenth batsman and third for Pakistan to score a century on debut.

Pakistan cricket team announced its World Cup squad on April 18. Some of the well known omissions are Mohammad Amir and Usman Khan Shrwani. 18-year old Mohammad Hasnain was picked up in place of Amir because of his ability to click 150kmph consistently.

The World Cup will start from May 30 and will take place in England and Wales. Pakistan will start their campaign against West Indies on May 31 but before that they will be departing to England for a bilateral series on April 23.
