Kerala all-rounder Jalaj Saxena has entered an elite list after making history in first-class cricket. The 32-year old cricketer is now sharing a record with the likes of legendary cricketers Kapil Dep, Lala Amarnath and Polly Umringer.

The all-rounder became the only uncapped player to have scored 6000 runs and taken 300 wickets in first-class cricket. Saxena created history during a Duleep Trophy match between India Blue and India Red. Saxena from 113 first-class matches has 6044 runs and 305 wickets.

“I knew I completed 300 wickets but I did not know that I am the only uncapped player among the legends. I feel honoured to learn that I am in the same list with Polly Umrigar, Lala Amarnath, Kapil Dev etc,” Saxena was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

Saxena plays for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League after he was bought by the franchise for Rs 20 lakhs in 2019. Saxena has also played for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Another record to his name is that he is the only Indian to have scored a century and taken eight wickets in the same match twice.

Despite his brilliance in domestic cricket, Saxena is yet to play for his country which is the ultimate dream of every cricketer playing for India.
