[Just in] IPL verdict: Gurunath Meiyappan, Raj Kundra suspended for life from cricket

The IPL verdict was announced on 14 July in New Delhi. Justice Lodha read out the verdict. Here are the developments:

  • Gurunath Meiyappan suspended for life and banned from cricket for 5 years.
  • The CSK team official has been suspended for life from taking part in any cricket related activities.

  • Declared ineligible from taking part in cricket for 5 years,suspended for life from being involved with BCCI.

  • Raj Kundra suspended for life and banned from cricket for 5 years.

  • Chennai Super Kings suspended for two years from the Indian Premier League.

  • Rajasthan Royals also suspended for two years from the Indian Premier League.

  • India Cement shares fall nearly 5 per cent after the verdict.
  • Question to be asked: What happens to the players of these two suspended teams?

  • All punishments commences from today.

  • Justice Lodha: BCCI has to give due importance to the implementation of discipline to maintain the reputation of the game.

  • No verdict on IPL COO Sundar Raman as the Lodha committee feels the investigation requires more work and time.

  • The BCCI now has to take a call as to whether the CSK and RR franchises will be bough by another franchise, clarifies Justice Lodha.

  • Still no clarification on what happens to the six players who were mentioned in the sealed envelope submitted to the Supreme Court earlier.
