Indian cricket fraternity expresses shock, disappointment over Hyderabad gang rape-murder

The Indian cricket fraternity has exhibited shock and displeasure over the gang rape and murder of a woman veterinarian in Hyderabad’s Shamshabad which took place on 27th November.

As per the police, the four accused of raping the veterinarian, had first punctured her two-wheeler, creating a situation of providing her help and then had dragged her to a sheltered place near the toll plaza and gang raped her.


Putting his vexation into words, Indian captain Virat Kohli took to his official twitter handle and wrote, “What happened in Hyderabad is absolutely shameful. It’s high time we as a society take charge and put an end to these inhumane tragedies.”

Following his captain’s strides Shikhar Dhawan also took to twitter and wrote, “This is an extremely painful news…, shocked and disgusted on hearing this. The offenders must be punished! My deepest condolences to her family and friends.”

His former teammate, Harbhajan Singh seeking PM Modi’s attention also went on to write, “Shame on all of us we keep letting these things happens again nd again but nothing changes.

“Why can’t we make strict policy against such criminals ad hang them in front of whole town to set the examples 4 others #Need ur attention Narendra Modi Sir.”

Another cricketer who expressed sadness over the tragic incident was Amit Mishra, “I’m very disturbed and shocked with what has happened. The murderers and rapists should be given severe punishment for this heinous,” he tweeted.

Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman, who is also a Hyderabad boy, stated, “It’s time to punish and give no respite to the culprits who perform such inhuman and horrendous crime. Hoping for a swift action from Narendra Modi Ji and the Indian Govt.”

Following the rape, the accused brought petrol from a nearby area and incinerated her body on the Hyderabad-Bangaluru highway.

Later, all four accused were taken into custody from their lodging place on 29th November by the Cyderabad Police. They have been sent to 14 day judicial custody.
