Will Salman Khan's Sultan edge past the Rs 300 crore mark? Third weekend holds the key

Salman Khan's Sultan is Bollywood's first and only blockbuster of 2016, till now. The film, which released this Eid, went on to rake in a record collection of Rs 180 crore in its opening weekend. Following the earth-shattering initial response, the film slowed down a bit on weekdays, but continued to trend well later.

The two weeks (15 days) total of the Ali Abbas Zafar-directorial stands at an impressive Rs 278 crore. Thanks to the positive word of mouth, the film managed to trend well at a comparatively lower level at the ticket window.

Within its 15-day run, Sultan has already become the highest grosser of all time in many territories like Delhi/UP, East Punjab and Rajasthan. However, it is the Mumbai and Gujarat belt that dented the collections to a certain extent.

Day wise collection:

  • First week: Rs 229.16 crore

    Week 2 (15 to 21 July)

  • Weekend: Rs 34.07 crore
  • Monday: Rs 4.08 crore
  • Tuesday: Rs 3.72 crore
  • Wednesday: Rs 3.42 crore
  • Thursday: Rs 3.51 crore
  • Total: Rs 277.96 crore

Now the important question crossing everyone's mind is if the film will breach past the Rs 300 crore mark at the Box Office. The Salman Khan film needs to witness a decent jump in collections in its third weekend to comfortably make an entry in the coveted club. If Sultan manages to do so, it will be the third film after PK and Bajrangi Bhaijaan to accomplish this.

Stay tuned for the third weekend box office update.
