Aamir Khan took to twitter to confirm that his next film with Amitabh Bachchan, Thugs of Hindostan, will hit the big screen during the Diwali 2018 weekend. The film, directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya (Victor) is the official adaptation of 1839's best-selling novel, Confessions of a Thug.

The film, which is set in 1832 in India, will chronicle the thug culture that existed during the pre-independence era. The story lays bare practices of thugs who murdered travellers for money and valuables. While the novel is pretty hard-hitting even for today's time, director Victor has reworked the screenplay.

The film will focus on the father-son bond portrayed on screen by Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. Apart from that, the director has also added a romantic track. The lead actress though is yet to be announced.

The film will be packaged as an action adventure with the right dose of emotions, making for an ideal Diwali release. Reportedly, Thugs of Hindostan will be one of India's costliest films.

The movie is produced by Yash Raj Films.
