Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, who has co-produced the latest courtroom drama Pink, says that the "colour pink is in a way thrust upon women" -- much like many other things.
Actors Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu along with Sircar were present in Delhi for India's Youth for Change conclave, to talk about the double standards that women have to deal with in our society and what can bring about a change in people's attitude towards women.
"Pink is a colour that is in ways thrust upon women like many other things in our society. I often ask who decided this? Why are boys linked to blue and girls to pink," Sircar said.
"All clothes are normal. How we look at the clothes worn by a woman is just a reflection of our thought," he added.
The film features Amitabh as a lawyer who fights a case involving three girls pitted against a boy from an influential family.
Pink has been lauded by multiple critics for bringing forth the importance of understanding the choices young women of today make and about respecting these choices.
Directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, it also features Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang, Angad Bedi, Piyush Mishra and Dhritiman Chatterjee in pivotal roles.
