This is how Shahid Kapoor's Udta Punjab has already surged past Salman Khan's PRDP
The music rights of Udta Punjab, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh, have been sold for a record price, beating Salman Khan's Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
According to a report by a leading daily, Udta Punjab's music rights have been sold for whopping Rs 18 crore, which makes it the biggest deal in the history of Bollywood.
"The last time we heard of a record-setting contract was for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, which is a crore less than this one. The Udta Punjab album has a new-age Punjabi vibe to it and the makers hope to strike a chord with music lovers," quoted a source to Mid-Day.
While the music of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo composed by Himesh Reshammiya was more towards the traditional side, Amit Trivedi has tried to get pop-culture back with the Udta Punjab's music.
Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Udta Punjab releases on 17 June, 2016.
