Shah Rukh Khan's Fan is one of the most-anticipated films of 2016. While initial reports suggested that the film would be just under two-hours long, it has now been revealed that the film has a runtime of 142 minutes. The runtime (2 hours, 22 minutes) of the film was revealed in the first print of the thriller that was sent to the censor board for film certification.
At the event held to launch the trailer of Fan, Shah Rukh Khan confirmed that the Maneesh Sharma-directorial did not have any songs. He also said that the 'Jabra Fan' song was merely a promotional track.
On being asked why Fan did not feature any songs, King Khan revealed that the taut screenplay did not allow for, or call for, any song in the narration.
Bollywood viewers love the song-and-dance routines movie plots are often peppered with. And films without songs are a rare occurrence in the world's largest film industry.
Akshay Kumar's Baby was the last time an A-list Bollywood star attempted a song-less film. The film was moderately successful at the Box Office and won critical acclaim. Will Fan be able to win over viewers without any songs? Only time will tell.
