Lawyer Satish Maneshinde, Rhea Chakraborty’s legal representative has responded after the top court delivered it verdict in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case on 19th August and allowed the CBI to take charge of the probe. The judgement was laid down by justice Hrishikesh Roy.

"The Honourable Supreme Court after examining the facts and circumstances of the case and the report of the Mumbai police, has observed that it will be the desired justice as Rhea herself called for a CBI investigation. The Honourable Supreme Court also observed that due to the allegations made by the two states of political interference against each other, it would be in the interest of justice to hand over the case to the CBI. Since the Court has transferred the investigation to CBI invoking its powers under Article 142 of the Constitution of India, she will appear and face the investigation by the CBI as she has done earlier with the Mumbai Police and the Enforcement Directorate. Rhea maintains that the truth will remain the same which ever agency investigates the case," Rhea's lawyer said.

The Mumbai Police has been asked to help the CBI with their probe. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government lawyer asked for consent to challenge the judgement. The judge, though, stated that it is now a court-ordered investigation.

This is the fourth and final hearing in the case. The Centre had told the apex court in the first hearing on 5th August that they have accepted Bihar government's recommendation to transfer the case to central probe agency.

The late actor’s family, Rhea Chakraborty, Bihar government, Maharashtra government and the CBI brought up their points of argument in the second hearing held on 7th August. Final submissions were presented before the top court in the third hearing on 13th August.
