Shah Rukh Khan's Raees, which was set to hit the big screen this Eid with Salman Khan's Sultan has finally been officially postponed to 26 January, 2017. The movie will now clash with Ajay Devgn's Baadshaho and Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil at the Box Office.

An official joint statement by Shah Rukh Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar reads that it was not an easy decision to move the date, however a film of such magnitude required a better release date.

"It was not an easy decision to move the film. We understand that this film is highly anticipated. However, a movie of such magnitude requires appropriate showcasing and therefore, we have decided to shift our release date to 26 January, 2017."

While the producers think that 26 January is a better date for Raees to release, we wonder what made them think so as the film will lock horns with two big films, Baadshaho and Kaabil. Though it is certain that one of the three films will opt out of the clash, it will be interesting to see who makes the first move.

This isn't the first time that a Shah Rukh Khan film has been pushed. The movie was announced way back in 2013 and was confirmed to release in the second half of 2015. However the film was later pushed because of Shah Rukh Khan's busy schedule, to Eid 2016.
