Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 had an excellent start at the box office this weekend. The sequel, to the 2011 hit Pyaar Ka Punchnama, raked in Rs 6.80 crore on its opening day.
The figures are impressive considering the lesser known star cast and the modest budget of the film. Despite having released on a mere 1,400 screens, the film has gone past the opening day collections of films like Jazbaa, Katti Batti, Bombay Velvet, NH10 which saw a much wider release.

Youngsters, who are the target audience of the buddy-film, seem to be taking well to Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2. The film is all set to witness a jump in collections today and will put up an extraordinary weekend number of over Rs 20 crore.

As expected, due to the local flavour, the film is performing the best in Delhi followed by the Mumbai circuit. Barring these two major circuits, the collections are dismissal at other centres. However, the film was not even expected to do well outside of the two major metros.
While a jump in collections is assured today, it will be interesting to see how well the film does.
