'Padmavati is a celebration of Rani Padmini and does not hurt any sentiments'

The COO of Viacom 18, Ajit Andhare in an official statement stood by his director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali followed by the attacks on the sets of Padmavati in Rajasthan,

Andhare claimed that the film does not intend to hurt any sentiments, rather it is a celebration of Rani Padmini,

"The incident that took place yesterday on the sets of Padmavati is shocking; Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a veteran with an acclaimed body of work. We stand by him and our film which is a celebration of the Rani and what she represented. We truly don't wish to hurt the sentiments of any person or community. We didn't expect this," said Andhare.

Padmavati stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead. The movie hits the big screen in November 2017.
