Musafir actress Koena Mitra gets six months' jail

Koena Mitra, the Saki Saki girl has been found guilty by a metropolitan magistrate’s court and is facing a jail term of six months.

She has been convicted in a case of cheque bouncing. As per the reports, the Musafir actress failed to pay Rs 4.64 lakh, including the interest of Rs 1.64 lakh to model, Poonam Sethi who filed complaint against her.


Reportedly, Poonam had filed the case against Koena in 2013 after her cheque bounced for ‘want of funds’. On the other hand, Koena refuted all the allegations and plans to challenge the verdict. Although, the arguments raised by Koena has been rejected by the Andheri Metropolitan Court Magistrate Ketaki Chavan.

According to the reports of Bollywood Hungama, Koena stated that model Poonam Sethi didn’t have the financial capacity to lend her Rs 22 lakh, therefore, she stole her cheques. However, Magistrate didn’t accept any of her statement.

 

 

In her defense, Koena claimed that she was framed and the case was fake. Also, her lawyer was not in court to present the final argument. She further told that her side was not heard and the order was passed without listening to her arguments.

The Saki Saki girl said that she would be challenging the decision in the High court and that her lawyers are in the process of appealing.

Earlier, Koena Mitra was also slammed the new version of Saki Saki song which featured Nora Fatehi. She took to Twitter and wrote, "My song from Musafir #Saaki Saaki" has been recreated. Sunidhi, Suhwinder, Vishal, Shekhar combination was outstanding. Didn't like the new version, it's a mess! This song had crashed many blockbusters! Why batlahouse, why? P. S: Nora is a stunner. Hope she saves our pride.(sic)."
