Actor R Madhavan is proud to be the goodwill ambassador for the the LEPRA India organisation, which fights diseases including leprosy and tuberculosis.

Leprosy and neglected diseases like lymphatic filariasis cause some of the most life challenging circumstances and disabilities in our country, bound with culture issues and dreadful social stigma. Leprosy is curable but health education and access to vital services are a necessary and valuable part of this fight to change lives.

Through my involvement, I want to see that the message reaches out to many more people in society and encourages hope and support for people affected," reads an official statement from Madhavan.

LEPRA India is a non-government organisation which addresses leprosy, tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS and community health.

On the work front, Madhavan was last seen on the silver screen in the 2016 Saala Khadoos directed by Sudha Kongara.
