Konkana won the laurels for her directorial debut and for her performance
Konkana Sensharma has double reasons to celebrate. The actress made her directorial debut with Death in the Gunj, the film has been screened in different film festivals but it is yet to release in India. Recently the film was showcased at New York Indian Film Festival and Konkana bagged best director award. Incidentally Konkana’s much in the news film Lipstick Under My Burkha too was screened at the same festival and it got good response. The actress also received best actress for her performance for this film.
Death In the Gunj is written and directed by Konkana and it stars Kalki Koechlin, Vikrant Massey, Tanuja, Gulshan Devaiah, Ranvir Shorey and others.
Lipstick Under My Burkha, is directed by Alankrita Shrivastava. It stars Ratna Pathak Shah, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur. The film was in news for being rejected by Central Board of Film Certification for its content. Later the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal passed it with A certificate and the makers are yet to announce the release date. The film revolves around four women, belonging to different age groups living in a small town and assert their personal and sexual rights.
