Kabir Khan's Phantom gets a solid opening weekend, might emerge a clean hit

Kabir Khan's Phantom started off with a solid opening weekend of Rs 33.18 crore. The weekend collections are quite firm considering the fact that such genres have a very limited appeal.

Saif Ali Khan - Katrina Kaif starrer benefited from Raksha Bandhan holiday on Saturday and continued to go strong hold on Sunday. Ideally, a film drops after a holiday however Phantom has shown a growth of around 5 per cent on Sunday, indicating positivity for the film.

The film, which opened to disappointing numbers in the mass dominated areas like CI, showed a strong growth over the weekend.

In CI, the film collected Rs 36 lacs on Friday, 28 August, which jumped to Rs 47 lacs on Saturday, 29 August and Rs 48.75 lacs on Sunday, 30 August. The trend pretty much suggests that the film is liked by the audiences. To get a clearer picture, we may have to wait till we get Monday and Tuesday collections.

Day wise Box Office collections:

Friday - Rs 8.46 cr

Saturday - Rs 12.78 cr

Sunday - Rs 11.94 cr

Will it be a HIT?

Made on a budget of Rs 50 crore, the film has recovered around Rs 15 crore from ancillary sources (satellite + music rights) and the film needs a distributor share above Rs 35 crore to be a safe bet for everyone for which it needs to do a business of more than Rs 60 crore in India and around Rs 14 to 15 crore overseas.

The film had limited release overseas and has managed to earn One million i.e. Rs 6.62 crore in two days.
