Has Deepika Padukone gone de-glam for Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi's next?

As we wait with bated breath to watch Deepika Padukone alongside Vin Diesel and Ruby Rose in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, the Bollywood superstar has bagged a role in Academy Award-nominated Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi's next.

Stills from Majid Majidi's upcoming project, which is going to be a film based in India, have captured Deepika in an avatar she has never donned before.

The glamorous actress will be playing the role of a rag-picker in Mumbai, dna reported.

"It is an Indian story and will be shot in Mumbai, Delhi, parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan and Kashmir. It will take off towards the year-end or early 2017 and is a signature Majidi film with new takes on relationships and emotional quotients", casting director Honey Trehan told dna.

Trehan also said that the untitled project will be shot n India towards the end of 2016, or early 2017.

Majidi, one of Iran's most celebrated directors, has to his name a number of award-winning films such as The Colour of Paradise, Baran, The Song of Sparrows, Muhammad: The Messenger of God and the Oscar nominated Children of Heaven.
