Golmaal and Housefull are two of India's most successful comedy franchises. While Akshay Kumar is ready with the third installment of the Housefull franchise, Rohit Shetty has kickstarted the pre-production work on Golmaal 4.
Although Rohit initially planned to work on the remake of the 1989 film, Ram Lakhan this year. However, that idea has been put on hold for now, choosing instead to work on the script for Golmaal 4.
Reportedly, Rohit Shetty had multiple interactions with Raju Shah, who was one of the financers of Golmaal: Fun Unlimited. Shah holds the rights to the Golmaal franchise - which he has now sold to Rohit Shetty for a whopping Rs 8 crore. Rohit has already started working on the script of the film with his team of writers.
Rohit plans to start shooting for Golmaal 4 in 2016. However, going by Ajay Devgn's busy schedule, the project might be delayed. Ajay Devgn is currently busy with his directorial, Shivaay, following which he will start shooting for Milan Luthria's Baadshaho.
