Farhan Akhtar’s film Lucknow Central clash with Kangana Ranaut’s Simran at box office

Both the films Lucknow Central and Simran are set to release in September

 Farhan Akhtar has started shooting for his upcoming film Lucknow Central which also stars Diana Penty. It is a story of how an imprisoned Farhan, forms a band in the jail with his fellow inmates. It is directed by Ranjit Tiwari and a huge set of Lucknow’s jail has been erected in Mumbai. Diana plays a NGO worker who helps prisoners to pursue their hobbies. The film is produced by Nikhil Advani and the makers already declared that their film will be releasing on September 15, even though they are yet to wrap up shoot.

 Releasing on the same day is Kangana Ranaut’s Simran is directed by Hansal Mehta. Simran is said to be inspired by a real life story of Sandeep Kaur, an Indian nurse working in the US. Sandeep robbed a few banks to pay off her debts which she incurred due to her gambling habit.  However Hansal has not confirmed if his film is based on Sandeep. Kangana's character will be called Praful Patel. The actress has already finished shooting for the film in US last year.
