Ever since Karan Johar announced Dear Zindagi, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt, there have been questions about a 50-year-old superstar romancing a 20-year-old actress. Despite clarifications by Gauri Shinde that King Khan is not romancing Alia in the film, the actress has been bombarded with questions about the same.

In an interview to a leading daily, Alia finally opened up and cleared the air. She explained that the much-anticipated film is not a love story and added that it is about time people change their perspective towards Bollywood films. She said,

"Gauri's film isn't a love story. We need to open our minds and think of different perspectives to films. There are people who ask me, 'Love story nahi hai?' and I'm like, 'Toh? Sirf love stories hi bante hai Bollywood mein?' People need to change that attitude, especially today when so many different kind of stories are being written."

Shah Rukh Khan essays the character of a psychiatrist in the Gauri Shinde-directorial and Alia Bhatt is seen as a short film director.

The movie hits the big screen on 25 November, 2016.
