A cancer patient somedays back requested De De Pyaar De actor Ajay Devgn to not promote tobacco products and now he has finally opened up on the same. The actor on Tuesday said that he endeavors not to promote anything that impacts the general public contrarily. A 40-year-old Rajasthan resident Nanakram made a public appeal to Devgn to stop his relationship with tobacco items in light of a legitimate concern for the general public.
The family of the patient said that he was a fan of the actor and utilized a similar brand item which the on-screen character publicizes for, however at this point understands that tobacco has adversly affected his life. The actor spoke to PTI and said that he maintains that he won't publicize tobacco. The actor said, "I have always maintained in my contracts that I am not promoting tobacco. Whatever the ads are, they are of ilaaichi (cardamom) and my contract says it will be non-tobacco. So if the same company is selling something else, I don't know what to do."
He even said that he even tries his best not to smoke on the screen if his role does not demand it. Talking about the same he said, "In my latest film, 'De De Pyaar De', I'm playing a regular man who does not smoke. But if I'm playing a Malik bhai in a film like 'Company', how will it be without smoking? Without taking any names, we were playing somebody (real) who smoked. So it would have been wrong to not show it as it would not be true to the role."
Talking about his upcoming film, it is slated to release this Friday and also has Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh in pivotal roles. For more scoops like these, stay tuned to us!
