Saif Ali Khan’s Chef, directed by Raja Krishna Menon, released this week. It is an official remake of American film by Jon Favreau. It was released in 1570 screens in India and 327 screens overseas. However, it got low occupancy and in fact according to some reports some of the morning shows of the film had to be cancelled because of no audience.

Although, Saif received positive feedback for his performance, the film got mixed reviews. On the opening day, it managed to earn Rs 1.05 crore. Chef is said to be made on the budget Rs. 30 crore and it stars Padmapriya Janakiraman, Svar Kamble and others and is produced by Bhushan Kumar.

Rest of the two releases of the week were Zareen Khan, Abhinav Shukla and Gautam Rode’s Aksar and Raai Laxmi’s Julie 2. Both the films did not have great start. But the major competition for Saif’s film was from Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2 which released last week and have been doing well at box office.

Within a week the film has collected Rs. 100 crore. Apart from this, Rajkummar Rao’s Newton too has been performing well at box office and so far the film has collected more than Rs. 18 crore.
