Badhaai Ho actress Sanya Malhotra to play Vidya Balan's daughter in Shakuntala Devi biopic
Last week we told that Vidya Balan has kick-started the shooting of her next film Shakuntala Devi Human-Computer. The film is a biopic on mathematician genius Shakuntala Devi, however, on Daughter's day, the makers of the film announced the actress who will essay the role of Shakuntala Devi's daughter.
According to media reports, Badhaai Ho actress Sanya Malhotra will play Shakuntala Devi's daughter Anupama Banerji in the film. The actress will be seen playing Vidya Balan's daughter in the film. Talking about her role in a statement, Sanya Malhotra said, "I am very excited to play the iconic Shakuntala Devi's daughter - Anupama Banerji. Everyone knows the achievements of the Math genius Shakuntala Devi. I'm thrilled to bring onscreen this dynamic mother-daughter relationship and equally thrilled to work with Vidya Balan."
The director of Shakuntala Devi biopic Anu Menon was quoted as saying, "When I met my namesake Anupama Banerji, Shakuntala’s daughter, I went to find the story of a Math whiz - but through spending time with Anupama, I found the story of a woman who was not just a computer but human too. And I can’t think of a better person than Sanya who can capture the love of daughter for her indefinable mother. Sanya instinctively understood the character and her journey - and I can’t wait to start shooting with her. I think the audience will fall in love with both Sanya's and Vidya's characters."
Currently, Mission Mangal actress Vidya Balan in shooting in London and Sanya Malhotra is preparing for her role. She will join Vidya Balan later this month in London. Shakuntala Devi Human Computer is slated to release in Summer 2020.
